R workshop

Summary

I attended the R workshop this week while hoping for a real beginners introduction, but it was quite confusing. The start was unclear for beginners like me, as we had to create an account, download a document, and implement it in our workspace without much guidance. Missing this first part of opening our own workspace, made it feel like the rhythm of the workshop was too fast, making it difficult for those of us who didn’t have much experience. This created a gap between us and the more advanced students, who seemed to find the class helpful and easy. Unfortunately, me and at least one other student ended up just listening instead of practicing.
I wish the class had started more slowly, allowing everyone to follow along step by step to set up our accounts and get ready to learn together.
I am planning to take another beginners course – so I have not given up just yet ?
Hopefully I will find it easier.

    Hi Shavit,

I signed up for this workshop but never got the zoom link!

Was the link sent to your email or did you find it on the calendar invite ?

Sorry to hear workshop was confusing

Hi Shavit, I am sorry you found the session confusing. Please check if you see an email from the instructor (Chen Zhou) sent three hours before the workshop on 10/10. Chen’s email included a pdf with detailed instructions on how to sign on and load the file. The file to be loaded was also attached to that email. I am glad you intend to take another course and hope you enjoy the next one.
